Emanuelson happy with home comforts

Urby Emanuelson says he is happy to be playing in the Eredivisie once again after spending the last six years abroad.

The former Dutch international joined Utrecht in the summer on a free transfer following his release by English Championship club Sheffield Wednesday and he has featured in all seven of their Eredivisie matches to date.

The 31-year-old, who has also enjoyed spells at the likes of AC Milan, Fulham and Roma since leaving Ajax in 2011, admits he is now happy to be back playing in Dutch football, after seeing his first-team opportunities limited over recent years abroad.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Emanuelson said: “I earn a lot less money here, but I’m a lot happier than the last few years abroad.”

Emanuelson has certainly had an impact since joining Utrecht, as he has helped Erik ten Hag's side win three of their opening seven league matches, with the club currently sitting in the middle of the Eredivisie standings.
