Twente land Barca starlet on loan

FC Twente
Dutch giants FC Twente have taken former Morocco international El Hamdaoui on trial with a view to signing him permanently.

FC Twente have announced they have signed Oriol Busquets from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old midfielder is set to team up with his new side on Wednesday after Twente director Ted van Leeuwen completed the deal in Spain on Tuesday.

Twente confirmed the news on Twitter and Van Leeuwen admitted it was a deal that had been in the pipeline for several months, while he revealed there are unlikely to be any further summer signings before the transfer window closes on September 2 unless any other players leave.

He told the FC Twente website: “We are very happy that Oriol has chosen for FC Twente. Ironically, he was the first player for whom we called in April, and in the end he may be the  last one to be hired this summer.

“Unless another player leaves, FC Twente is shopped in this window. We have looked at Oriol many times and it was not easy to attract him, because there was great interest. Oriol has chosen FC Twente with full conviction, he has followed all our matches via the internet and decided that this club fits the best in his development with this game system.”

Busquets is under contract until 2021 at Barca, for whom he has made two senior appearances, and there is no option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season-long loan.
