Feyenoord braced for new Kocku interest

Feyenoord managing director Jan de Jong has hailed Jaap Stam as the 'right man' to lead the side forward.

Feyenoord are expecting huge interest in their teenage midfield starlet Orkun Kocku ahead of the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old came through the youth ranks at FC Groningen before switching to the academy of Eredivisie rivals Feyenoord in 2014.

Kocku made his debut for the club in the 4-0 KNVB Cup win against VV Gemert in September 2018 and then made his bow in the Eredivisie last December.

He has already made 10 appearances this season, scoring one goal, and becoming a firm fixture in the plans of coach Jaap Stam.

Kocku, who featured for the Dutch at Under-18 and Under-19 level, switched allegiance to Turkey in the summer and has now played for the nation’s Under-21s.

His performances have resulted in interest from several top European clubs, including Premier League side Arsenal.

Stam will not want to lose the player, who is under contract to Feyenoord until 2023, but any offers in the region of £20million could prove too tempting to turn down.
