Van Bommel praises ‘mature’ PSV

PSV Eindhoven
PSV boss Mark van Bommel says Ajax are still favourites to win the title but stressed his side will not give up.

Mark van Bommel was delighted with PSV Eindhoven’s emphatic 4-0 win over Apollon Limassol in Europa League qualifying on Thursday.

The Dutch giants scored four second half goals to claim a 4-0 win on the night and a 7-0 success on aggregate.

“We put in a mature performance, but need to be patient,” he said, as reported by the PSV website. “We have a young squad and we are perhaps not consistent enough.

“You need to be disciplined in defence and focus on your job so that quality will eventually make the difference. Once we had made the breakthrough, we scored some more goals in quick succession.”

PSV have been drawn against Austrian outfit LASK Linz, Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon and Rosenborg of Norway in Europa League Group D.
