Sparta Rotterdam winger Thomas Verhaar praised his team-mates for their work-rate after beating NEC Nijmegen on Sunday.
De Kasteelheren are back in the Eredivisie after six years in the second tier of Dutch football and have made an encouraging start to the season.
They sit seventh in the standings, with 10 points from six games played, and took care of NEC 2-0 at the weekend to earn their third win of the campaign.
Verhaar bagged the opening goal of the game - his first in the Eredivisie - and the 28-year-old Rotterdam-born wide man feels things are going well at Het Kasteel.
"Naturally if a team wants to reach a higher level then the competition for places only gets more competitive and I can only congratulate my team-mates on their start to the season," he told NOS.
"We had to work hard today and remain disciplined and that why it maybe looked easier for us during the game but that was not the case. To play a game in such a manner demands a lot of concentration, movement and stamina."
