FA blow for Blues

Everton have lost their appeal over Diniyar Bilyaletdinov's red card and he will miss three matches as a result.

The Russian was sent off against West Brom last weekend but Everton had hoped his appeal would be successful, especially after Baggies midfielder James Morrison gave him a statement of support, but it has still failed meaning he will miss the final-day clash with Chelsea and the opening two games of next season.

A club statement said: "Everton were informed on Tuesday afternoon that referee Anthony Taylor's decision would be upheld, thus ruling Bilyaletdinov out of Sunday's Premier League finale against Chelsea, as well as the first two games of next season.

"The appeal was dismissed in spite of Morrison providing a statement in support of the Everton player."
