Striker set to stay put

Everton are unlikely to continue their efforts to sign Peter Crouch from Spurs as they want £10m for his services.

There had been talk of a possible swap deal involving Steven Pienarr, but Everton made it clear on Tuesday they were not interested in allowing the South African midfielder to move on despite the fact he is in the last year of his contract.

That leaves any move for Crouch down to just a cash deal and with financial restraints hindering David Moyes in the transfer market he is unwilling or unable, or both, to consider paying £10m for Crouch.
