Teen ace wants more action
Everton teenager Jack Rodwell is hoping his impressive display against Tottenham will earn him a regular starting role.
The 18-year-old enjoyed an excellent game in the 0-0 draw at Goodison Park after being selected from the start by boss David Moyes following several substitute appearances over the past month.
He played alongside fellow youngster Dan Gosling against Harry Redknapp's side and now he hopes to stay in the starting XI with FA Cup Final places up for grabs.
"Me and Dan get on well," he said. "When we play together we always link up well, we help each other as we were on the same side of the pitch so we were talking to each other throughout the game."
"The squad is getting smaller with injuries so hopefully I will stay in the team and if not, then I will keep working hard to try and get back in."
Rodwell admitted he is learning all the time from playing with experienced players like Phil Neville at Everton.
"They are experienced professionals and they do their best to help the youngsters like and Dan and myself, so to have them alongside us is good," he added.
"I had Phil Neville screaming down my ear all game, and as the captain he's trying to give everyone advice which is good."
