Konchesky stakes Three Lions claim

Fulham's Paul Konchesky believes himself and striker Bobby Zamora could sneak into England's squad for this summer's World Cup.

The stopper is aware that Three Lions coach Fabio Capello will be keeping his options open at left-back as Ashley Cole is currently injured following ankle surgery and Wayne Bridge declared himself unavailable after the scandal surrounding his former girlfriend and Chelsea's John Terry.

And, while Konchesky is aming to catch the eye in defence, he also feels in-form team-mate Zamora could be on the plane to South Africa.

He said: "With Bobby scoring as he has been doing, it would be great if he got a chance as well.

"If Mr Capello keeps coming (to see Fulham) - and one or two of us can catch the eye - we can hopefully get there.

"I've been at the club three years and this is the best we've done, so with the team doing well, it's always going to help you."
