Genoa open the door to Perin exit

Genoa director of sport Giorgio Perinetti has told Serie A rivals Napoli to make an offer for goalkeeper Mattia Perin if they want him.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move to the Partenopei this summer with their current number one Pepe Reina set to depart when his contract expires at the end of June.

Perin is thought to be keen on a move to a bigger club having already suffered two bad knee injuries in his career and, while Genoa would like to keep him beyond this season, Perinetti appears to have given Napoli the green light to make a bid.

He told Radio Kiss Kiss: ‘We have an excellent rapport with Napoli and I don’t know what will happen. Of course, we’d like to keep Perin, because he embodies the soul of Genoa, but I understand that a player wants to measure himself up against the competition in the Champions League, so we’ll see.

‘We have always negotiated calmly and with the intent of collaboration. One day, Napoli will put their cards on the table and we’ll see what is the opportune course of action.’
