Big Easy ready for WGC event
Ernie Els is expected to take his place in the field for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship despite a neck injury.
The South African was ordered by medics to miss the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles in order to rest the injury, but is set to return to action in Tucson on Wednesday.
Els has been paired against American Jeff Overton, who impressed at last year's Ryder Cup, in the first round of the matchplay event at Dove Mountain.
Japan's Toru Taniguchi has been forced to withdraw from the tournament though, as he is also struggling with a sore neck, and will be replaced by Henrik Stenson.
The Swede, the 2007 winner, faces an ominous task in his first-round encounter, as he comes up against world number one and top seed Lee Westwood.
Defending champion Ian Poulter, currently ranked 12th in the world, starts his defence of the title against 2009 Open champion Stewart Cink - who was runner-up in 2008.
