Dubai too soon for Stenson

Henrik Stenson is reportedly out of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai because of his ongoing rib injury.

The 41-year-old Swede had previously suggested that he would feature in the European Tour's season-ending event from next Thursday, despite sitting out this weekend's Nedbank Challenge.

But reports on Sunday claim the 2016 Open champion has conceded defeat in his efforts to feature in the tournament.

Stenson had wrote on Instagram during the week that he was returning to Orlando in the United States for a scan on his ribs and to rest the injury but still harboured hope that he could travel to Dubai.

However, it seems the problem will not have cleared up sufficiently for him to perform at 100 per cent of his abilities at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in the United Arab Emirates.
