Huddersfield eye Brighton scalp

David Wagner says he wants to see Huddersfield finish the weekend above Brighton with a win over the Seagulls on Saturday.

The Terriers welcome their fellow Premier League new boys to the John Smith's Stadium looking to end a run of four successive defeats against a Brighton side smarting from a 5-1 home loss to Liverpool last weekend.

After making steady starts to life in the top flight before their recent blips, the two promoted clubs find themselves separated by just two points, with Wagner's men able to catapult themselves up to 12th with a win.

The German is expecting a response from his players after a run of defeats and believes the home fans can make a big difference as they go in search of a vital three points.

"We have the chance to be ahead of Brighton after this weekend, and that is our aim this weekend," said the German.

"We don’t enjoy having a few defeats in a row but we have had experience of periods like this and we have always been able to bounce back.

"Its a massive game for us, we are very happy that we are at home and we will take the energy from the stands into the game. We are very happy to be home.

“The fans are like a 12th man or more! They give us a lift; they have done it in the past and they have to do it in the future as well. This is why this football club is so extraordinary because everyone supports each other even if we win, lose or draw."
