Smith calls for Huddersfield response

Tommy Smith says Huddersfield were not as good as they can be at West Ham and is confident they'll improve for the visit of Leicester.

The Terriers were beaten for the first time this season at the London Stadium on Monday night, with boss David Wagner claiming his team did not deserve to take anything from the game after they went down 2-0 to the Hammers.

Smith has echoed his manager's sentiments, admitting the players were disappointed with their showing, but he is refusing to get too downhearted about the loss.

The Huddersfield skipper is looking for an immediate response this weekend when Leicester come to the John Smith's Stadium, claiming they will need to cut out the simple mistakes to get anything from the Foxes.

“The outcome was tough to take but we will dust ourselves down and look forward to the game against Leicester on Saturday," Smith told the Huddersfield Examiner.

“We will take some positives out of what happened, look at the video, see what we did right and what we did wrong, and hear the manager’s thoughts on it.

“On the whole, though, we realise we weren’t as good as we can be and we have to look to put that right.”
