Terriers star reveals how Wagner's words convinced him

Huddersfield defender Mathias Jorgensen admits David Wagner personally convinced him to join the club when he wasn't sure last summer.

The 27-year-old Danish international centre-back was signed from FC Copenhagen for a cut-price fee, committing himself to a three-year contract.

But Jorgensen wasn't sold on the idea of making the move to West Yorkshire when he initially heard Town wanted him, although a trip to Germany and a conversation with Wagner changed all that.

"I was down [in Germany] and visited him in Dortmund very early on when I had heard a little about the interest," he said.

"I was a little sceptical about it all. Basically because I knew how it looked and how [slim] the chances of success looked on paper.

"I went down to Dortmund and visited him in his home. We talked both football and personal life. And the interest he grew in me and my way of playing football was instrumental to me."
