Goalkeeper eager for Hull nod
Hull, Latest news update:
Steve Harper says he is keeping his fingers crossed he will make his league debut for Hull City in Sunday's clash at Tottenham.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper is in line to make his first appearance for the Tigers in the Premier League after Allan McGregor was ruled out for the next six weeks with a thigh injury.
Harper, who moved to the Tigers on a free transfer in the summer, has played in two Capital One Cup matches so far and kept clean sheets in both.
Despite being preferred in both of those games to fellow shot stopper Eldin Jakupovic, Harper isn't getting carried away about his chances of featuring at White Hart Lane, although he insists he is ready if called upon.
"We'll see what happens when Sunday comes," Harper told City's website. "Myself and Eldin are both pushing to get the nod for what will be a very tough game at Tottenham.
"I think we've had four away games so far and conceded a couple of goals in each of them, so that is something we'll be looking to address.
"If the chance comes my way I'll look forward to getting some games in. My last Premier League game was for Newcastle in May so it will be great to be back involved.
"That was part of my reason for coming here, to stay involved in the Premier League and maximise my chances of getting an opportunity in this league. Hopefully that will come along on Sunday."
