David Meyler says Hull will get the chance to show how strong their squad is when they take on Stoke in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
The Tigers squad was looking weak to say the least following a summer of mayhem, but a flurry of signings just before the closure of the transfer window gave everyone a lift.
Several new faces have not been given a chance as yet, but that will change on Wednesday when caretaker boss Mike Phelan makes a host of changes to his starting eleven.
Ryan Mason, David Marshall, Markus Henriksen, Dieumerci Mbokani, Will Keane and James Weir are all pushing to start, and Meyler says it is exciting times.
"It is promising for Mick to have brought in the signings that he has," said Meyler. "They're all itching to get a game and it's up to the ones who are playing to stay in there. That's the challenge we all have to set ourselves.
"Mbokani has played in the Premier League before with Norwich and Ryan's played for Tottenham. We haven't seen too much of Markus playing in Holland and there's James and Will, who have come from Manchester United, so you know they'll be highly thought of."
