Neymar tipped to move past Pele

Brazil legend Zico is adamant that Neymar will go on to break Pele's goalscoring record for the South American nation.

Neymar has already bagged 49 goals from 73 appearances for the Selecao despite being only 24 years old.

The Barcelona hit-man is now fourth on the all-time lost of Brazil goalscorers, having just passed Zico, and has only Romario (55), Ronaldo (62) and the great Pele, who notched 77 from 91 outings, above him.

The former Santos man has scored three times for Brazil this season and, when asked if Neymar will move past Pele at some stage of his career, Zico was unequivocal in his response.

"For sure, he will," said the 63-year-old Goa coach. "He will get much more games. In my case, we would get only six World Cup qualifiers. Then again, there are so many friendlies.

"You can play against teams such as Gabon, Haiti. We would play a lot of games but they would be with teams within Brazil or against clubs in Milan, Madrid."
