France boss Didier Deschamps believes midfielder Paul Pogba has done enough to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

The Manchester United midfielder played a key role in helping Les Bleus to win their first World Cup since lifting the famous trophy on home soil in 1998.

His performances in Russia have led to calls for Pogba to be considered for the prestigious Ballon d’Or, despite a lack of consistency for United in 2017-18.

France boss Deschamps has been Pogba’s most vocal supporter although he admits it will be tough with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar all in contention.

Deschamps said: ‘He’s a potential candidate for the Ballon d’Or, yes, he deserves it.

‘It’s not just him, but he deserves it. The Ballon d’Or, that would be a very good thing.

‘We’ve seen so many times, there are two who are still there… Come on, even three, you have Messi, Ronaldo with everything they represent in the world and what they do. Neymar too, even if he arrives behind.’
