Chopra: Being dropped improved me
Latest news update:
Michael Chopra insists being dropped by Ipswich manager Paul Jewell was the right decision and helped to rejuvenate him.
The striker was omitted from Jewell's starting XI for the first five matches of 2012 but responded by scoring three times in the last two games since being restored.
Chopra admits being out of the line-up motivated him to improve his form, and he told the East Anglian Daily Times: "I don't think it was quite clicking for me. The manager told me he was going to leave me out for a couple of games and just to watch from the sidelines.
"You could tell my confidence was low, you could see that in how I was playing. I sat back and watched and was then raring to go.
"When the manager gave me the nod against West Ham I was just desperate to repay the club and the manager.
"I have got a lot of belief in my ability and a lot of people have said that if I am in the right frame of mind, then I will score goals. It was just a case of getting me in the right frame of mind."
