Real concerned by Bale reports

Gareth Bale is set to be out for longer than expected with his ankle injury and is facing up to four months on the sidelines.

Reports in the Spanish press claim that during the operation to repair his damaged tendons it was discovered the extent of the problem was greater than first thought.

The Wales international, who suffered the injury during Real Madrid’s Champions League encounter with Sporting Lisbon last week, had initially been expected to be out for a maximum of three months.

However, the discoveries made during surgery could mean Bale is out until April, meaning he could miss as many as 25 matches for the European champions.
