Real Madrid have announced midfielder Casemiro is facing a spell on the sidelines after he was diagnosed with a broken leg.
The Brazil international was forced from the field during the first half of Real's win over Espanyol last weekend and the club's medical staff have now finally got to the bottom of the problem.
Real have discovered a fracture in Casemiro's fibula and it is expected the 24-year-old will miss the next four weeks, ruling him out of several La Liga and Champions League matches, with Real facing a hectic run of matches.
A club statement on Thursday night read: "Following tests carried out today on Casemiro at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a fracture to the central third of his left fibula.
"His recovery will continue to be assessed."
The injury will also keep Casemiro out of Brazil's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela next month.
