Sevilla the right club for Nasri

La Liga

Midfielder Samir Nasri says he opted to move to Sevilla on loan as he felt it was a club that could help revive his career.

The 29-year-old has been on the books at Manchester City since 2011 after making the switch from Arsenal but had fallen down the pecking in recent times.

A mixture of injuries plus a dip in form and an influx of star names had seen the former France international relegated to the bench and he made the decision late in the summer transfer window to try his luck in La Liga.

Sevilla have made a solid start to their league campaign and sit third in the standings – one point and one place above the mighty Barcelona.

Whether it remains that way only time will tell but, whatever happens between now and the end of his loan spell, Nasri feels he is at the right club.

“I have a relationship built on trust with the coach (Jorge Sampaoli) and that is invaluable, it’s thanks to him and to his assistant that I am here with Sevilla,” he told RMC Sport.

“I made the decision to come to Sevilla because I know that this club has been good for so many players – it has rekindled their careers and got them going again, I feel that happening to me.”
