Zinedine Zidane has urged his Real Madrid stars to hit the ground running in games after dropping their first points on Wednesday.
The Bernabeu giants were looking to make it five wins from as many La Liga games but had to rely on a second-half equaliser from Sergio Ramos to rescue a point against Villarreal on Wednesday night after Bruno's penalty in first-half stoppage time had given the visitors the lead.
Real were unable to force a winner and had to settle for a draw that sees them sit at the top of the standings, with a two-point gap back to second-placed Sevilla.
There was no real damage done for Los Blacnos, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid drawing 1-1 at the Nou Camp, but Zidane would like his charges to be more alert right from the start of matches to make sure they give themselves the best opportunity to win.
"The main problem was the first half overall, we did not start the game as we should," he told reporters. "In the first half we did not have any momentum as we did not have any intensity and didn't create many chances to score, although I cannot blame my players.
"Of course it's impossible to be at your best from the first minute in every game and we showed that during the first 45 minutes - while defensive mistakes can happen in football.
"We cannot get a late goal in every game we play."
