The midfield ace has been on top form for the defending champions at Euro 2012 and will look to run the show when Spain face France in their quarter-final clash in Poland and Ukraine this weekend.
Zidane was a star of France's 1998 World Cup winning side and is widely regarded as one of the best players ever to play the game.
And Real's current director of football feels there are similarities between Iniesta and the way that he used to play.
"Iniesta is really impressing me," he said. "He's got so much influence in Spain's game. He reminds me of myself, but he is more pale than me.
"I guess the press are being too tough with Spain. For me, the team are playing well, but it's not easy when their rivals are tight in defence."
