Magpies eye striker in Europa League clash
Newcastle made a check on red-hot Bordeaux striker Francois Kamano on Thursday as he missed a penalty in a 2-1 defeat to Copenhagen.
The Magpies were one of five Premier League clubs represented at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique for the Europa League Group C encounter, with Wolves, Watford, Leicester City and Southampton also sending scouts.
Kamano was linked to Newcastle at the back end of last month, when Italian website Calciomercato claimed Fulham and Brighton were set to rival Rafa Benitez for his signature.
The 22-year-old has scored five Ligue 1 goals in seven starts so far this season but was unable to add to his European tally on Thursday after shunning a great chance to equalise from the spot.
Kamano, a Guinea international, can operate down the left-hand side or through the middle and has just less than two years left on his contract with the French club.
