Cabella permanently joined Marseille last summer following a successful 2015/16 season-long loan spell but he slipped down the pecking order after putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract.
The France international made just 17 Ligue 1 starts in the previous campaign and the lack of first team opportunities has forced him to re-evaluate his options at the Stade Velodrome
Les Phoceens have also strengthened their squad this summer, signing Florian Thauvin, Luiz Gustavo, Valere Germain, Clinton N'Jie, Adil Rami and Steve Mandanda.
Cabella could be forced further down the order due to the increased competition and reports are suggesting he is contemplating whether to leave the club before the window closes.
The 27-year-old is valued at around the £7million mark and former employers Montpellier, who sold the forward to Newcastle United in 2014, could be interested in a deal.
