L'OM have proved a difficult nut to crack in recent weeks, losing just one of their previous five Ligue 1 games, while they have also kept back-to-back clean sheets in the division.
Garcia insists his side never looked in danger of conceding a goal against Lille and he believes any point you pick up on the road is always a good one.
"I must congratulate the players on their defensive work," the 53-year-old said. We have to highlight the positives, such as not conceding a goal and picking up an away point. We were solid, combative, well organised."
The former Roma coach was not completely satisfied with his side's display, however, as he believes they lacked a cutting edge throughout the contest at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
"The big concern was the use of the ball. When we had it, we didn't do anything with it, and it's difficult to get a win in those conditions," he added.
The draw consolidates Marseille's position in the top six of the standings ahead of their next match against Dijon after the international break.
