Lille star revels in debut goal
Lille attacking midfielder Jonathan Ikone has revealed his delight after scoring on his international debut for France.
The 21-year-old, who has impressed with his efforts in Ligue 1, managed to get on the scoresheet in Les Bleus’ 4-1 Euro 2020 qualifying victory over Albania.
Ikone was delighted to be called up to the senior squad in the first place and has admitted it was a dream come true to score for his country.

“I said that my dream was to bring things to the team,” Ikone told M6. “Defensively first and why not offensively if everything goes well. A dream that has come true.
“Frankly, I’m really happy, I hope it’s going to continue. The integration [with the squad] went really well, there were players who talked to me, helped me settle in as quickly as possible, and the coach has made me feel at ease.
“It’s never easy because the opposing team has continued to fight.”
Ikone, who started his career at Paris Saint-Germain before going on to Montpellier, will be hoping he can get Lille back to winning ways after the international break after they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Reims last time out.
Next up, Lille welcome Angers to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in their Ligue 1 clash on September 13.
