Galtier confident Osimhen will remain
Lille manager Christophe Galtier is confident in-form forward Victor Osimhen will stay at the club beyond January.
The young Nigerian has been a revelation since joining the club in the summer from Belgian outfit Charleroi.
He was brought in as a like for like replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who netted the French club a fee of £72million when he joined Arsenal.
The 20-year-old has scored goals for fun this campaign so far, bagging 11 in 21 matches.
He has also continued that form at international level, scoring four goals in his last four games for the Super Eagles.
Now, speculation is rife over his future with several clubs apparently registering interest in signing him.
Barcelona have been linked with a move to bring the player to Camp Nou as look to plan for the future.
They would have to pay a big fee for the youngster, who penned a five-year contract when joining Lille in the summer.
However, when quizzed about his future, boss Galtier says he is confident the prospect will remain at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
“Yes, I believe so,” when asked by Bein Sports if he will stay. ”But in football, nothing is safe. I can confirm this with regard to the weeks that have just passed”.
Lille have enjoyed another strong season in Ligue 1 as they currently lie third in the table after 17 games.
They are 11 points behind top dogs PSG and six behind Andre Villas-Boas’ Marseille as they aim to finish second in consecutive seasons.
In the Champions League, however, it has not been as successful, with the Flanders-based side eliminated from the competition before their last group match, having only picked up one point in five games.
