Nice manager Lucien Favre is confident Mario Balotelli will return to the very top if he continues the current rich vein of form.
Balotelli is one of the most controversial characters in football and numerous incidents over the years, including at Manchester City and Liverpool, have led to uncertainties over the striker's future.
The Italy international was handed what many believe to be his final chance at Nice this summer, joining on a free transfer after being released by the Reds.
He has hit the ground running since arriving in France and the 26-year-old grabbed a brace in Wednesday's 4-0 victory over Monaco, taking the club top of the league on 14 points.
Balotelli's form has been nothing less than brilliant and Favre believes the new addition can challenge the world's best players if he continues to work hard on and off the pitch.
"He becomes aware that he will return to the top level if he is professional," he said. "After difficult years for him, the recovery will be the key to return to the top.
"Gradually, we will try to help him become stronger. Four goals in the first two Ligue 1 matches? No, I wasn't expecting that."
