Bakayoko hopes for Monaco stay
Tiemoue Bakayoko wants to turn his loan stay at Monaco into a permanent move from Chelsea.
The midfielder returned to the Stade Louis II on a loan deal in the summer after struggling to settle at Chelsea, having spent last season on a temporary deal at AC Milan.
The Ligue 1 club have the option to make the deal permanent for a reported fee of €42.5 million at the end of the season.
Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim remains under pressure after Saturday’s goalless draw at Reims, and Bakayoko has offered the manager his backing.
He told Canal Plus: “[Jardim] is the same coach that I have known for five years. He is still very motivated, he really wants to take us as high as possible. He is close to us, he tries to give us confidence.
“I really want everyone to support him, that we try to be with him and to listen to him. He has proved that he is a truly great manager. I want him to be here for several more seasons.”
Monaco spent last season battling the drop and could be set for another year of struggle in the French top flight.
Jardim’s side remain without a win and have picked up just three points from six games so far.
Monaco are 19th in the Ligue 1 table and three points adrift of safety.
