Silva holds on to Neymar hope

Paris Saint Germain
Thiago Silva has urged Paris Saint-Germain to learn from a shock cup loss earlier in the season when they host Nantes in the Coupe de France semi-finals.

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva says he is hoping for a strong season from Neymar following the summer transfer debacle.

Former Barcelona forward Neymar was strongly linked with move back to the Camp Nou, with reports claiming the Brazilian had no intention of playing for PSG again.

A move appeared to be close but, in the end, PSG and Barca failed to agree the terms that would have seen Neymar return to the Catalan giants.

The Blaugrana have since stated they will not attempt a move for Neymar in the January transfer window, so for the moment at least the South American appears to be staying in the French capital for the season.

Although he admits it has not been an ideal summer for his countryman, Silva is hoping Neymar can now get back to delivering on the field.

“He also knows that he has made mistakes but has no bad intentions. This boy is amazing. I hope he’s going to have a great season. It will be unforgettable too because the PSG will celebrate its 50 years,” he said.

“I hope he’s going to have better days. It’s really my wish because we know him; not just the player, but the person. Especially after the last year.”

Paris Saint-Germain are next in action on Saturday when they host Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes in their first game back after the international break.
