Matuidi heaps praise on PSG star Gueye
Blaise Matuidi claims his replacement at Paris Saint-Germain, Idrissa Gueye, “is a great player” who has helped bring balance to the French Ligue 1 giants.
The 32-year-old France international defensive midfielder scored 33 goals in 295 appearances for PSG and helped them win four Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France trophies while at the Parc des Princes.
Matuidi departed for Juventus in summer 2017, with his absence leaving a huge void in the midfield at PSG.
But, after securing a £30million swoop to sign Gueye from Premier League side Everton in the summer, it appears that Les Parisiens have finally found an adequate replacement.

The 30-year-old Senegal international has made an average of 85 passes per match, with a success rate of 91.5%, and averaged three tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game.
Speaking about Gueye’s progress at his former club, Matuidi told RMC Sport: “Idrissa Gueye is a great player. We did not talk much about him before he was at PSG, but at Everton I saw him playing very big games, and when they recruited him, I was very happy for PSG.
“Gueye will allow them to be more balanced and maintain the pressure during major games.”
