Tuchel calls for Neymar clarity
Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel says the transfer saga involving Neymar needs to be sorted out soon.
Brazil international Neymar made it clear to PSG that he wanted to leave the club this summer after revealing he feels he made a mistake in moving to the Parc des Princes from Barcelona in August 2017 for a world-record fee of €222million.
The Catalans have been linked with a move to re-sign the forward, while rivals Real Madrid are said to have had a monster bid, which is believed to have included Welshman Gareth Bale, turned down by the French Champions.
Neymar was once again left out of Les Parisiens’ squad for Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Toulouse and Tuchel, who wants the forward to stay, says the club need to sort out this transfer situation.
He told Canal+: “It has always been our goal to close this folder as soon as possible. Leonardo knows that I want to keep him. But that doesn’t depend only on him. The situation is not very clear, yes. And we must clear it up.”
The deadline for European clubs to get their summer transfer business done is September 2, giving the likes of Barca and Real little time to thrash out a deal for Neymar.
