Paris Saint-Germain star Meunier is happy where he is
Thomas Meunier says he is hoping to stay with Paris Saint-Germain, despite constant speculation linking him with a move away.
The 27-year-old was in demand during the summer transfer window with Arsenal among the interested clubs, but a deal did not materialise and he stayed in Paris.
The full-back has just 12 months remaining on his contract and there is no sign of him penning a new one just yet. Even so, the player says he is happy where he is and has no thoughts about leaving.
“It was an intense period, with a lot of interest and discussion,” he said of the summer window. “I could have left but it was not done because there was nothing that suited the club or myself. Nothing was 100 per cent for it to work.
“I have always said that I wanted to stay in Paris. I still have one year on my contract and I still hope an extension can be secured.
“The situation is a little more complicated because I am no longer the preferred choice in my position, but I remain professional. I feel good there and we will see what happens during the season.”
