Every game like an away game – Neymar
PSG forward Neymar says he expects to be an unpopular figure at PSG after making a return to the side on Saturday.
Over the summer, he was linked with a move back to Spain after publicly declaring he would like to leave France.
A return to Barcelona looked to be on the cards while Real Madrid were also thought to be interested in the unsettled 27-year-old.
However, no move ever materialised and he was forced to go back to PSG for the start of the new season.
Fitness issues prevented him from playing in the first four games of the season and he only made his comeback against Strasbourg on Saturday.
He was booed by fans but managed to score an injury-time winner with a bicycle kick to redeem himself in the eyes of some supporters.
After the game, Neymar admitted it will be difficult for him to get back onside with the fans but he will give “everything” to the cause.
“I understand the fans and I know that it was hard for them,” Neymar said. “But from now on I am a PSG player.
“No, I do not have a particular message for [the fans]. I am used to being booed throughout my career. This time, I will be playing each match as if we were away from home. It is a shame, I have nothing against the fans.
“Everyone knew that I wanted to leave. I said it and I repeated it. I do not want to go into details.
“The page is turned. I am a PSG player and now I am going to give everything on the pitch.”
