Liverpool and Manchester City are set to fight it out for the signature of Nice midfielder Jean Seri in the January transfer window.

The Ivory Coast international has turned heads with his displays for Les Aiglons over the past two-and-a-half years and it seems as though the big boys have now taken notice.

The 26-year-old has won 16 caps for his national side over the past couple of years and both Barcelona and Arsenal showed an interest during the summer transfer window.

Barca offered £35.2m which Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere rejected, while the Gunners failed to deliver a bid but, according to the Daily Mail, both Liverpool and City are planning big-money moves for Seri in the new year.

Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be keen but the player is said to favour a move to the Premier League.
