Sagna plays down Marseille speculation

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna admits he does not think a move to Marseille would be beneficial for his career.

The former Arsenal star has just seven months left on his current contract and he will be free to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

Sagna has yet to open talks with the Citizens about a new deal but the 33-year-old has featured heavily for boss Pep Guardiola.

He has recently been linked with a move to Ligue 1 giants Marseille but Sagna admits the switch does not interest him at the moment.

“My contract expires at the end of the season,” the France international told beIN Sports. “I am not thinking about it, though. I just take things as they come and try to give my all.

“Marseille are a club that I like a lot, a club that is part of the history of French football.

“But I do not know whether I want to be under so much pressure at the age of 34. I need some calm around me and I am not sure Marseille are a stable club right now.”
