Midfielder Elliot Hodge is eyeing a place in Burton's starting line-up after signing a short-term contract at the club.

Midfielder Elliot Hodge is eyeing a place in Burton’s starting line-up after signing a short-term contract at the club.

Hodge, son of former Nottingham Forest and England international midfielder Steve, has been training with the club during pre-season and featured in several friendlies after leaving Notts County in the summer.

The 22-year-old told burtonalbionfc.co.uk: ‘I’m delighted. I’ve been training for a long time here so it’s nice to get it done.

‘The manager thinks I can improve being around all the players. I want to be involved, I want to enjoy my football and see where it goes.’

Hodge could make his debut at Gillingham on Saturday, if the Football Association approve the deal.
