Burton have signed free agent Dimitar Evtimov on a one-month deal to ease their goalkeeper crisis.

The 25-year-old, who has gained experience on loan at Mansfield and Port Vale, left Nottingham Forest in August after making just two starts since joining in 2011.

Evtimov is set to go straight into the starting line-up for Saturday’s game against Sunderland with first-choice goalkeeper Stephen Bywater and Chelsea loanee Brad Collins both injured.

Manager Nigel Clough told Burton’s official website: ‘Finding a goalkeeper with a bit of experience is difficult when you are looking for someone who hasn’t played yet this season because of the three club rule, who is eligible to play in the Carabao Cup against Burnley and who is available – there are not too many about.

‘Dimitar was released by Forest a few weeks ago and we have had good reports on him. He has been training with Notts County so he’s fit and up to speed.’
