Coventry slump to defeat

Coventry City

Corry Evans' first goal of the season ensured Hull continued their fine form under caretaker boss Nick Barmby with a 1-0 win at bottom club Coventry.

With an hour gone, Andy Dawson’s cross from the left found Evans who rifled in a volley to give the Tigers a third consecutive victory which lifted them to fifth in the npower Championship.

Coventry created few meaningful chances but were unlucky not to go in front in the first half when Richard Wood’s header hit the post.

The Sky Blues rallied late on and Lukas Jutkiewicz had a shot saved by Peter Gulacsi before heading wide from a Richard Keogh cross as Andy Thorn’s side slumped to a third consecutive defeat.

For all their effort in the second half the hosts were unable to find a way through and have now gone 10 matches without a win.
