Khan, 22, was shown a straight red card for allegedly shoving referee Kevin Johnson and will miss Friday’s FA Cup tie against boyhood club Manchester United if the appeal is unsuccessful.
The midfielder, who started out as a trainee at Old Trafford, was sent off for making contact with Johnson after Chesterfield’sKristian Dennis had scored a controversial late winner, but Yeovil claim the incident was accidental.
“Town will be appealing against the red card shown to Otis Khan in the Sky Bet League Two defeat to Chesterfield at the weekend,” the Glovers said on their official website.
“On the grounds that any physical contact made with the official was of an accidental nature, the club has chosen to appeal the dismissal and will await the decision of theIndependent Regulatory Commission.”
