The Foxes are eager to bring in some reinforcements during the winter transfer window after a difficult defence of their Premier League title and appear close to making their first signing.
Ndidi, 19, has caught the eye for Genk this season and has attracted Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri not only with his performances but also his ability to play either at centre-half or as a defensive midfielder.
The Nigeria international has previously been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle but they appear to have missed their chance as the champions look to tie up a deal soon.
Leicester will reportedly pay £14million up front, with the transfer rising to potentially £16million if certain clauses are met.
As well as bringing in Ndidi, Ranieri is also though to be after a creative midfielder and a winger to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.
