No regrets over Lyon stay for Ndombele
Midfielder Tanguy Ndombele says he had no intention of leaving Lyon this summer despite interest from Tottenham.
The 21-year-old moved to Lyon prior to the 2017-18 campaign and he says he had no interest in departing Les Gones after just one season.
Spurs are understood to have seen a bid rejected by the Ligue 1 club over the summer, and Ndombele made no attempt to engineer a move.
The France Under-21 international suggested he could be open to an exit next year but for now his full focus is on Lyon.
‘I’m happy to stay at Lyon for one more season,’ Ndombele told the club’s official website. ‘That’s what I wanted.
‘I hope that we are going to have a great season.
‘It was important for me as I only had one season here and I wanted to stay and continue my development.
‘I want to do great things here. I have personal goals but I prefer to keep it to myself.
‘I had a good season and people were not expecting me to do well at this level.’
