Karius was brought back in by boss Jurgen Klopp for the Reds' Champions League opener against Sevilla on Wednesday and the German looks like being the designated first-choice in Europe this season with Simon Mignolet expected to keep his place for the Premier League games.
The decision to rotate his goalkeepers has baffled some with Karius guilty of mistakes last season when he did play a handful of first-team games, while Mignolet has improved in the past 12 months and appeared to be the undisputed No.1.
However, former Mainz man Karius says he's determined to take his chance in the Champions League games and hopes to be involved more regularly overall as he battles Mignolet and even third-choice Danny Ward for action at Anfield.
"It’s an interesting situation with three good goalkeepers, which can only be good for the club," Karius said on the club's website following Wednesday's 2-2 draw.
"We try to do our best every single day in training and in the games. I’m happy I got to play and I’m hoping I get more games of course. I try to prepare well in training and then be ready when I’m called upon."
Mignolet is likely to be back in goal for Saturday's visit of Burnley in the league, while the indications are that Ward will be selected by Klopp for the domestic cup competitions this season.
