No Argentine swoop on cards - Benitez
Rafa Benitez has denied that he is aiming to take Napoli's Argentinian international striker Ezequiel Lavezzi to Liverpool this summer.
The Reds boss has broken his silence about the 24-year-old after the player's agent Eduardo Rossetto claimed on Monday that the Merseysiders want him to bolster their forward line next season. He suggested that Napoli general manager Pierpaolo Marino had met twice with the Fifa agent Pablo Cosentino, who invited him to set up a meeting in either Liverpool or Naples about striking a deal.
However Benitez insists that he has no interest in Lavezzi and will not be trying to sign him.
He said: "We never contacted Lavezzi and we have no intention of doing so.
"We want to put a stop to these rumours."
