The French giants have a transfer pot, said to be worth £85m, to spend not just this summer but every close season until they are the best in Europe, thanks to their Qatari owners.
They have now targeted Liverpool's Uruguayan star Suarez as part of their plans for the future if they can persuade Liverpool to sell. On the face of it Kenny Dalglish will be reluctant to sell his top striker especially when goals are proving to be hard come by but it has been a controversial year off the pitch for the striker and the club may consider an offer, if it is large enough, to persuade them to sell. Billionaire Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the chairman of Qatar Sports Investment, tolf the Mirror: "We are already looking at the market for next season.
"We have clear targets in mind. It is true that we want Luis Suarez and [Real Madrid striker] Gonzalo Higuain
"Our real short-term targets are to win the Champions League and find a new Lionel Messi."
The Uruguayan cost Liverpool £22.8m when he signed from Ajax last January and he has netted 14 goals since his arrival in 39 appearances.
