City star poised for new contract talks

Raheem Sterling is reportedly set to be handed a new deal at Manchester City as a reward for his impressive start to the season.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Citizens in an initial £44million deal from Liverpool in the summer of 2015, is halfway through the five-year contract he penned at the Etihad Stadium.

There was talk of a possible departure for the England international in the summer when Arsenal were linked, but Sterling stayed put and is now enjoying his best spell at City.

He has scored 10 goals from 15 games in all competitions so far this season - which equals his haul in 47 outings last term - and been involved in 12 goals as City sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and safely through to the last-16 of the Champions League.

As a result, reports claim Citizens chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain are working on fresh terms for Sterling and will hope to tie him down in the near future, along with fellow star men David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
