City boss Roberto Mancini is without talisman Carlos Tevez for the game after the Argentinian suffered a hamstring injury in Monday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool. And, the Italian tactician now must decide whether one or both of his other forwards should be pitched in against the Red Devils.
Mancini said: "I still have to decide what to do but both players (Dzeko and Balotelli) know this is an important chance for them. Every player knows this is an important moment for the club.
"I know we have improved a lot. The important thing is that we don't go there and think about the enormity of the game. We cannot afford for our heads to get full with the occasion."
City are boosted by the return of Micah Richards from a three-week lay-off due to his own hamstring problem, while David Silva and Nigel de Jong will be included after failing to make the starting line-up for Monday's defeat at Anfield.
Looking ahead to the game, Mancini insists that his side can defeat United even without Tevez as they look to move City towards a first trophy in 35 years.
